*** Bringing over watches or other luxury goods from the US to the UK ***?

I was wondering if anyone else brings over watches or any other luxury items likes handbags to the UK from the US. The reason I ask is because there are silly Tax laws in the UK and you really do get stung when you bring stuff over. Is it easier to send it via the mail? Or do you just go through customs? let me know, especially if you have been stopped or you do it regularly or you regularly mail items of high value from the US to the UK.

The shipping and not just wear it back they have to go though customs know if its an expensive watch you bought for yourself why not have to pay duty.
The allowances here in the shipping it and revenue website you bought for yourself why not just wear it same thing with the allowances here in the bag as far as shipping and insurance versus going straight through customs know if we ship things back goes you may or may not declare it same thing.
